The Sounds of Saturday

It's funny, for the past who knows how many years it seems that my schedule has been consistently busy. This Saturday is one of the first in a long time that I don't have any plans. Todd got up early and headed to school and I took Torrey to the dog park. When I got home, I sat down on the couch and had to tell myself "hey it's Saturday".
For some reason it just didn't feel that way. I sat there for a few minutes listening to the silence and realized it was because my house doesn't sound like Saturday. Not the Saturday I remember growing up. So I turned to my blog and blue tube to find a few songs that could bring a little Saturday to my house.
Now my siblings will tell you that we have parents who get up early and are busy from the moment that coffee pot sounds off, until well after the sun sets. They invent chores for themseleves to do. So as I listened to a few of my all time favorite songs online, I decided to list all the things Saturday sounds like to me. When I am done here I think I will put in a James Taylor greatest hits and get to vacuuming. Below this post are 2 songs I thought I would share.

Saturday......
  • The Grinding of the beans in the coffee pot (way too early)
  • The sound of dishes being put away
  • Classic Rock playing throughout the house, with an occasional round of Fiddler on the Roof or the sound track from West Side Story.
  • Vacuuming
  • Lawn Mower
  • Crowds Cheering...San Diego, Chargers or Padres on TV. Just hearing the game in the back ground while your doing something else.
  • My Dads voice...he is not much of a whisperer
  • Sue Gralla stopping by to say hello

Yep, This reminds me of home and growing up. I would add in the newspaper scattered on the kitchen table and the smell of bagels toasting.
